Details about Geoffrey Lander BA - Consultant to the motor trade property industry. Tony is a Fellow of the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors with considerable experience in property development.

Geoffrey Lander BA – non executive Director

Geoffrey's role with Plato Estates Limited is non executive. His remit includes advising the Company on and strategy and performance. Geoffrey is also retained as a consultant to Plato Property Investments LLP in a similar role.

In performing his role Geoffrey will draw upon his experience as a solicitor. He retired from practice in 2003 aged 51. His other current non executive activities include:

  • Chairman of the Advisory Board of Oracle Group Limited the mixed use property development and investment company
  • Non-executive director of Modus Holdings Limited, a multi disciplinary organisation providing services to support business environments including internal fit out construction and facilities management
  • Deputy Chairman of Stonemartin Plc, the provider of flexible managed office space and
  • Non-executive director of Dolphin Square Trust Limited

During his legal career, Geoffrey established a reputation in providing strategic advice to corporate occupiers. Geoffrey's legal career spanned 32 years with one firm Nabarro, (formerly Nabarro Nathanson) which he joined in 1973 as an articled clerk and became a partner in 1980, aged 29. He headed the firm's Commercial Property Department between 1995 and 2000 and then became responsible for international business development particularly in the United States. Geoffrey continues his transatlantic business links and remains a Board member of British American Business Inc. and he is a Pilgrim. He also retains his strong links with the real estate world.

Whilst at Nabarro, Geoffrey handled a wide range of commercial property transactions on behalf of both real estate investors and landlords but more often, corporate occupiers. Geoffrey's clients included HSBC, JP Morgan (and separately Chase Manhattan Bank prior to its merger with JPMorgan), Gap Inc, GE Capital Global Consumer Finance Ltd, London Electricity plc, BUPA, Cable & Wireless plc, WPP Group plc, Hammerson plc, Quintain Estates & Development PLC, BBC Pension Trust Limited, Peabody Global Real Estate Partners, L.P., GIC Real Estate and Capital & Counties plc. Geoffrey remains in regular contact with a number of his former clients, many of whom have become personal friends. His current pro bono activities include assisting "not for profit organisations" with their property requirements.

Geoffrey is also co-founder (with Jonathan Edwards) of Tricore Equity Partners LLP, principals in commercial property outsourcing and the management and procurement of real estate and related services to meet the needs of business occupiers.

Geoffrey is a highly respected figure in both the business and property worlds and has taken a leading role in a number of organisations including having been:

  • Chairman and a founder member of CoreNet Global UK
  • Chairman of the European Advisory Board of CoreNet Global
  • President and a founder member of the British Council for Offices
  • Chairman and a founder of 4 Holborn Business Improvement District
  • Board Member on the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors' Shadow Regulatory Board which is charged with reshaping the future professional regulation of the RICS.

Born in Manchester in 1951, Geoffrey has lived in London since 1972 and is married to Lynn. Geoffrey's hobbies include playing golf badly, bridge and following Manchester United.
